LCATS Program

What is the LCATS Program?

The LaRue County Attorney Traffic Safety (LCATS) Program is an optional diversion program for traffic citations. LCATS participants have the opportunity for the court to dismiss their traffic citations without the citation showing up on their driving record or receiving points on their driving record.

How do I complete LCATS?

To complete the LCATS Program, you must contact the LaRue County Attorney’s Office 270-358-9223, and if eligible, sign and return the LCATS agreement.  You will then be notified to enroll in the course, pay the fee, and complete a one-hour online course. After completing the course, the County Attorney’s office will file a motion to ask the court to dismiss the citation.

Am I eligible?

  • Eligibility is at the discretion of the LaRue County Attorney’s Office. Some eligible offenses may include: Speeding, Disregarding a Stop Sign, Improper Passing, Careless Driving, etc.
  • You are NOT eligible if you already paid for your ticket, signed up for State Traffic School, have a Kentucky Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), or received a citation for Speeding 26+/ over. You must possess a valid driver’s license from your home state and must not have more than 2 traffic offenses in the last 5 years.

How do I pay for this course?

All payments are processed through Advent eLearning. You can pay online, over the phone, or by mailing a check, credit card payment, or money order. The course is $172.50 for most offenses.

I’m having problems with the course. Can you help?

Advent eLearning administers the CATS program for our office. Please call:

1-866-494-8556 for program support.

I did not complete the LCATS Program before my due date. What can I do?

  • If your court date has not passed, you can request an extension through the LCATS program. We will review the extension request and grant it if appropriate.
  • If your court date has passed, you will need to reach out to the County Attorney’s Office or the LaRue Circuit Clerk to determine the status of your ticket and discuss your options.

I don’t think I deserved this ticket. Do I have other options?

The LCATS Program is optional. You have the right to plead “not guilty” to the charge(s) against you and all other guaranteed constitutional rights if you choose not to enter the LCATS program. If you have questions about your eligibility, please call 270-358-9223.
